I was lucky enough to enjoy a few weeks away from the winery in January, and the wine has aged beautifully while I was gone. I’m very excited with what we have in the tanks and barrels now, which so far includes Estate La Crescent, Estate Marquette, Estate Frontenac Blanc (dry and sparkling), Frontenac Gris (dry and sweet), Frontenac Rosé (dry and Sweet), Seyval Blanc, and Cabernet Franc. Looking forward to finishing the wines and bottling in spring!
I actually had a bit of fun designing this. It’s very simple and kind of cliche, I know, but it will make for a nice gift card. They’ll be here in a few weeks and will be a perfect gift for any wine lover you know.
At the moment we only have a few more rows of vines to pick, and I’m now on my 6th consecutive 18+ hour day, but I’m very excited about the wines this year. Here’s what I’m expecting to make.
Estate La Crescent
Estate Frontenac Blanc
Sparkling Prairie Star / St. Pepin
St. Therese Rosé
Frontenac Dry Rosé
Cabernet Franc / Syrah
11 new varieties, and bottled just in time to start this year’s harvest. Lots of work to do between now and then, though.
So far we are through the La Crescent, Frontenac Blanc, Frontenac Gris, Seyval Blanc, Talon Crest, Traminette, Merlot, and Syrah. Today we have Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc/Syrah. Tomorrow is the Rubique blend. Then it’s time to get ready for harvest and start it all over again!
