The Wines at Sovereign Estate
At Sovereign Estate, we strive to produce world-class wines using our estate-grown grapes, Minnesota grown grapes, and grapes from around the nation. Our vineyard, located on the north shore of Lake Waconia, grows esquisite Marquette, La Crescent, and Frontenac Blanc, and our winemaking style is to highlight the unique quality of these Minnesota grapes.
La Crescent 2018
A delightful wine with intense aromas of pineapple, peach, and pear. Crisp and light on the palate, with a hint of sweetness. Similar in style to Riesling.
Patina Gris 2017
This rich and sweet rosé, made from Minnesota Frontenac Gris grapes, is perfect with fruits, soft cheeses, and other flavorful foods. Similar in style to Moscato.
The 2016 vintage of Marquette is low in acidity, with a smoother mouthfeel than the 2015 vintage. Aged on 100% French oak. Similar in style to Burgundy reds.
Tenuta Di Sovrano 2014
“Tenuta di Sovrano” is how you say “Sovereign Estate” in Italian. A dry red wine with rich flavors of choke cherry, aromas of spicy cedar, parching tannins, and medium full body. Aged in a blend of 2/3 French oak and 1/3 American oak. Similar in style to Super Tuscan.
Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2018
Intense barrel aged red wine, this traditional styled Cabernet Sauvignon is produced in very limited quantities. Each bottle signed by the winemaker.
Frontenac Blanc Reserve 2016
The reserve Frontenac Blanc Reserve ’16 was again aged in Hungarian oak barrels. This dry white wine is flavorful with notes of butterscotch and cream. Similar in style to Chardonnay.
Marquette Reserve 2018
The reserve Marquette was again aged in Hungarian oak barrels, which lend complex notes of coffee and cocoa along side the cherry, raspberry, and earthiness from the grape. Very limited quantities available, each bottle signed by the winemaker.
